Inside the Premier League: Race for First Place

As we approach the finale of the Barclays Premier League, week 34 featured four important match-ups.

Manchester City 3:0 Chelsea

On Saturday, Manchester City beat Chelsea 3:0 keeping them in third place with Arsenal only trailing them by 4 in goal differential. The first goal of the match occurred in the 32nd minute with Sergio Aguero shooting the ball into the bottom right corner of the net off of a fast break. In the 53rd minute, Samir Nasri fed Aguero a through ball and he scored again off of a fast break by shooting the ball into the bottom left corner of the net. In the 80th minute, Aguero finished off his hat trick by successfully converting a penalty into the bottom left corner of the net.

Leicester City 2:2 West Ham United

On Sunday, Leicester City drew West Ham 2:2. This put West Ham only one win behind 5th place Manchester United and kept Leicester City in first place. The first goal came in the 18th minute when N’Golo Kanté passed the ball to Jaime Vardy on a fast break attempt. Vardy then shot the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. In the 55th minute, Vardy received a red card for a flop and was removed from the match. In the 83rd minute, West Ham finally scored their first goal when Andy Carroll converted a penalty by placing the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. Two minutes later, Aaron Cresswell shoots the ball into the top middle of the goal, over the keepers head to give West Ham the lead. With only a minute left in the match, Jeffery Schlupp drew a penalty for Leicester, and Leonardo Ulloa successfully scored by shooting the ball into the bottom right corner to tie up the match.

Arsenal 1:1 Crystal Palace

Also on Sunday, Arsenal drew Crystal Palace 1:1 to keep them in fourth place in the league. Arsenal scored the first goal of the match with just seconds left in the first half. Alexis Sanchez was the scorer, heading the ball into the top right corner of the net off of a cross from Danny Welbeck. In the 81st minute, Crystal Palace tied up the match when Yannick Bolasie received a pass from Emmanuel Adebayor and shot the ball into the bottom left corner of the net from outside the box.

Tottenham Hotspur 4:0 Stoke City

On Monday, Tottenham beat Stoke City 4:0 in another dominant display. In the 9th minute, Harry Kane scored by shooting the ball into the bottom right corner of the net off of a pass from Mousa Dembélé. The second goal occurred in the 67th minute when Dele Alli shot the ball down the center of the goal line off of a fast break. In the 71st minute, Kane scored almost an identical goal off of a fast break by shooting the ball down the center of the goal line. The last goal occurred in the 81st minute when Alli volleyed the ball into the bottom right corner off of a pass from Christian Eriksen.
