Photos: Community Celebrates Year of the Pig

Students packed the Innovation Space yesterday to celebrate the Chinese Temple Fair.

Co-Director of International Students and Mandarin Teacher Frances Fremont-Smith ’75, who spearheaded the event, said that international students felt “at home” with their peers joining in the festivities, including the traditional yo-yo, Chinese calligraphy, and Shuttlecock.

“You kick the Shuttlecock off the side of your foot, and yesterday everyone gathered in a circle and cheered each other on,” Fremont Smith said. “There was s chopstick competition to see how many pieces of candy you could  pick up with the chopsticks. There was build the Great Wall, there were arts and crafts, make your own lantern, and color in a pig because this year is the year of the pig.”
