Middle and Upper School students worked together today during community block to guild bikes to promote community connections and service.
Students worked together to complete icebreaker tasks to earn parts for their bikes in Build-a-Bike kits. Afterwards, the bikes were brought to South Boston Neighborhood House.
“Each group received materials and instructions to build a child-sized bicycle. While getting to know one another, students collaborated to assemble the bikes, fostering teamwork and a shared sense of purpose,” said Kathryn Lee, Director of Innovation and Design.
Alexa Dykeman ’27 reflected on the meaningful experience of building the bicycle.
“To me, it meant working and indulging in teamwork to build something for a good cause. We were able to work with people we never have before and the entire group shared a sense of purpose and urgency to build it, ” Dykeman said.
The bicycles will be distributed to children in need in the South Boston community.
