On November 15, 2024, influencer and boxing sensation Jake Paul, 27, took on former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, 58.
For the last year, fans of Paul and Tyson have been awaiting the duel between the powerhouse boxers. The fight was originally scheduled for July 2024, but was later changed after Tyson suffered a peptic ulcer flare up, leading to serious health effects that threatened his life.
The fight took place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas which is the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. The anticipation leading up to the fight had climaxed. Paul entered the fight in a low-rider Chevrolet truck alongside his brother Logan Paul, who is also a well-known influencer.
Tyson had a simple entrance to the fight, as he just entered into the ring. Approaching the fight, Tyson and Paul were heavily advertising the fight on social media.
Tensions reached an all-time high during the final face-off between the fighters when Tyson slapped Paul across the face. This got many fans excited for the fight since there was clearly a feud between Tyson and Paul.
After the slap, social media went into a frenzy, and people were excited to see how the fight would play out with like Tyson having declining health issues and Paul being 31 years younger.
Despite this, the fight went on to be an underwhelming affair. Paul won the fight unanimously, but the excitement that the battle was supposed to bring was lackluster. It is also important to note that neither Paul nor Tyson suffered severe injuries during and after the fight.
Other than the uninspiring fight, most of the post-fight headlines were based around Netflix.
Netflix had experienced many streaming issues and struggled with the quality of the coverage. This has led to fans causing a negative uproar surrounding the fights’ stream, as Netflix is currently being sued by a Florida man. Many other viewers were displeased with Netflix after the fight and expressed their feelings about the fight on social media.
Now that the fight is over with, Tyson has put an end to his boxing career. Jake Paul, however, will continue on.
