Varsity 1 Boys’ Basketball lost to Worcester Academy 76-63 in last night’s season opener.
Captain Jordan Minor ’19 was the high scorer, finishing with 18 points and shooting 66 percent from the free point line.
“I think we played great and competitively in our first game of the season. We have a lot of new players so it was good to get experience playing together in a game. This season will be very exciting, and I can’t wait to see our growth from beginning to end.”
New player Gianni Thompson ’21 reflected on his first experience playing in NEPSAC AA, one of the most competitive leagues in the country. He shot 71 percent from the free throw line and finished with 15 points, including 2 three pointers.
Thompson said, “I always heard that this league was hard, but it was a different experience being on the court and dealing with other players. It was a difficult game but it was a good first game. I look forward to playing them again later on in the season and seeing how I have improved.”
The team’s next home game is on January 13 against Gould Academy.
