For the first time in newsroom history, as a 9th grader, Rachael Rosenberg ’27 was recently recognized by the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) as a Finalist for Best Multimedia News Story in the nation for her Feb. 21, 2024 story, Academic Priorities Limit Club Meeting Times.
Rosenberg’s story is one of 10 that will compete for the top prize, to be announced next month at NSPA’s fall convention in Philadelphia. Also of note, Rachael is the only nominee this year to have single byline credit.
“I am so proud of Rachael for winning this recognition,” Adviser David Cutler said. “She went above-and-beyond by reaching out to sources at other schools to inform her reporting, and I think she stands as good of a chance of any of the entries for winning, but even being on this coveted list is a massive deal.”
Former Editor-in-Chief Evan Michaeli ’24 is also nominated for Best Multimedia Feature Story in the nation for his Dec. 2, 2023 story, Chocking Ourselves to Death.
“This was the longest piece in Gator history,” Cutler said. “Evan poured his heart and soul into it, and I’m so glad to see that his work has earned such prestigious recognition.”
