After an excellent season where the team finished with an 8-4-1 record, the Girls Varsity Soccer team qualified for the Independent Girls Conference Playoffs.
Brimmer GVS (6th seed) upset 3-seeded Boston Trinity Academy in the quarter-finals of the IGC tournament. During the regular season, Brimmer lost to BTA 4-0. The quarter-final game was fast-paced and high energy for the entire 80 minutes of regular time.
The Gators struck first, with a goal scored by seventh-grader Suzanna Bess ’30. BTA tied it up in the second half to send the game into sudden-death extra time.
After a scoreless 10 minutes, the game went to Penalty Kicks, where Sophia Horning ’25, Alexa Dykeman ’27, and Nydia Comenzo ’27 scored the three penalties for Brimmer. Sophomore Nydia Comenzo ’27 saved two out of four penalties to earn the victory.
It was a massive victory for the girls. They look forward to another opportunity to play in the semifinals on Thursday at Covenant Christian Academy.
