The Gator recently promoted Senior Writer and Photographer Edan Zinn ’23 to Executive Editor, second-in-command of the publication under newly elected Editor-in-Chief Karly Hamilton ’21.

As the youngest person to hold the title in Gator history, Zinn demonstrated impressive and versatile skill this year in writing, reporting, photography, podcasting, and digital illustrating.

“I’m grateful for the thrilling opportunity to work for this year’s editors,” said Zinn. “I look forward to continuing The Gator’s legacy with Karly and I’m eager to see what next year will bring for the newsroom.

Zinn’s new responsibilities include attracting and training new recruits, editing submissions, supporting Gator Nation News, and working closely alongside Hamilton to address editorial decisions.

“Edan is an extremely hard worker and is incredibly deserving of the promotion,” Hamilton said. “I can’t think of a better person to help lead the newsroom to another successful year in the fall.”

To fill Hamilton’s previous role as managing editor, the editorial board is seeking applications from current staff members. The position is set to be filled before the end of this academic year.
