Varsity Baseball competed in its first three games last week, earning a victory against the combined Chapel-Hill Chauncy Hall and CSW team, while losing against Providence Country Day (PCD) and Concord Academy.

The largest loss came against Concord Academy, who capitalized on multiple errors to take a big lead in the second inning. Aside from that, the game was fairly close. Had the Gators been more focused earlier on, they could have brought home the “W.”

“PCD was one of the hardest teams we play,” says Assistant Coach Michael Langlois after the team’s 5-2 defeat on Thursday, noting that they forced PCD to use their best pitcher the entire game. “As long as we stay healthy, we have pretty good prospects.”

The team has yet to lose a league game, and having defeated CSW-CHCH 14-0, winning the league championship for the third year in a row seems achievable.

“We started off a little bit slow, but I have faith in our team that we will regroup and pick up some wins,” says veteran player Dylan Rigol ’18. “We’ve won this league two years in a row, and I’m hoping we can pick up a third.”
