Brimmer and May’s Middle School chorus, May Chorale, swept the Music in the Parks Festival yesterday at Six Flags New England.
For its first competition in School history, the ensemble won first place and earned the highest possible rating—“superior.”
“The students were extremely prepared and driven to do well,” said Director of Middle and Upper School Music Frank Van Atta. “The pieces highlighted their voices so well that the closest school to us was still five points behind.”
May Chorale competed against four other schools from across the Northeast.
Additionally, Amir Ali ’22 won best instrumental soloist and Riley Shafer ’21 won best vocal soloist.
“Mr. Van Atta really really helped me win this award,” said Schafer. “I really couldn’t have done it without him.”
