Gator reporter Hanna Spivak ’20 sat down with Sita Alomran ’19 to discuss how she expresses herself through fashion.

What do you think about when picking out your outfit for the day?

First and foremost, I like to be as comfortable as possible without breaking the dress code. School is mainly for me to focus on my work and in doing so, I prefer to be comfortable but look presentable no matter what.

What is your favorite article of clothing?

My favorite article of clothing is shoes—without question. Even though there are so many varieties of clothing for every part of an outfit, I personally feel like I can express myself the best through my shoes. Whether it’s a cool sneaker with an athletically put together outfit, or a nice pair of dress shoes with a street style outfit, shoes are definitely my favorite article of clothing to shop for and style. My favorite pair of shoes are my white Nike Vapor Max sneakers.

What stores do you like to shop at?

I like to shop at larger department stores with multiple boutiques in them because its nice to have all of the stores in one place. My favorite department store is Barneys New York.

What does your sense of style reflect on you as a person if it does?

I express myself through my sense of style. It never really reflects just one aspect of my personality because I have so many different outfits that can say so many different things.

Are you able to dress easily everyday without thinking about the dress code?

Yes, the dress code does not affect the way I choose to dress everyday.

Do you prefer online shopping or street shopping?

I prefer street shopping because I would much rather be able to try things on before I buy them. This way, I know for sure that I like them without having to go through the process of returning.
