Over a foot of snow fell Wednesday night and into the morning, closing campus Thursday.

Upper School Head Joshua Neudel sent home an email to students and families, writing, “It would not be 2020 if there was not another chance to show our adaptability in the final week of school.”

Neudel’s message also included updated information about Ring Ceremony, which is postponed until a yet to be determined date.

“Shifting Ring Ceremony to a fully remote event in just a few days, would not allow us to host the event successfully,” Neudel writes. “We know that this will be a disappointment for the 11th and 12th graders, but since the beginning of the year our hope was to do this event in person and we want to honor that work as best as possible.”

Thursday afternoon assessments will be held today as planned, but done remotely. Today’s morning assessments are rescheduled for tomorrow at 9:00 a.m., also remotely.

Below, please find Neudel’s complete email.

Dear Upper School Families and Students,

It would not be 2020 if we there was not another chance to show our adaptability in the final week of school. Due to the snow storm that is coming this evening and the upcoming Winter Break, we are making a few adjustments to our schedule for the end of the week. We are balancing giving students a chance to enjoy a slow start to the morning in honor of the first major storm of the year, while ensuring that no one goes into the break with an exam hanging over them.

The following changes are being made to the schedule on Thursday and Friday:

-Ring Ceremony on Friday morning is being postponed to a time to be determined at a future date. A lot of work has gone into creating a safe, in-person event and we want to be at our best for the program. Shifting Ring Ceremony to a fully remote event in just a few days, would not allow us to host the event successfully. We know that this will be a disappointment for the 11th and 12th graders, but since the beginning of the year our hope was to do this event in person and we want to honor that work as best as possible.

-Thursday morning assessments will be held remotely on Friday morning from 9:00am-11am. We will not have any classes or work on Thursday morning so people can sleep in and enjoy the morning.

-Thursday afternoon assessments will be held as planned(1pm-3pm), but done remotely for everyone. Your teachers will share information on how to complete your assessment from home.

-On Friday, at noon, we will host an US Meeting to close out 2020 and send students off on break.

Sincerely,

Joshua Neudel
