Nolan Suraci, Outgoing Senior Chief Journalist
Nolan is a fourth-year member of the journalism program who began as a multimedia journalist, combining his love of photography and interviews. He later shifted toward op-ed and political writing, focusing on the election and current events. A highlight of his work was interviewing author Devorah Heitner about technology and teenagers. He also enjoys soccer, lacrosse, skiing, and The Global Studies Diploma Program.
Caleb Meranus, Journalist
Caleb is a 9th-grade student who enjoys photography, and working behind a camera. This is his first semester in the newsroom, and he has been producing multimedia content like the segment Education of our Educators, Nolan’s Soup Review, and other Gator Nation News media. Caleb has also been assisting other writers by taking pictures for their articles. You can find more of Caleb’s photography work on his Instagram.
Tavio Mares-Van Praag, Editor-In-Chief
Tavio Mares-Van Praag is an 11th grade student in his third year in the newsroom. He enjoys writing and filming sports content. Outside of the newsroom, he likes playing and watching soccer along with sailing, snowboarding, and basketball. Tavio runs The Gator‘s sports broadcasting initiative and is a proud producer and commentator for the livestreams.
Gabe Cohen, Outgoing Sports Editor
Gabe is a journalist for The Gator. He enjoys playing basketball and keeping up with different sports. He also loves to listen to music and make videos for his YouTube.
