Last Tuesday, Varsity Girls Basketball won 48-44 against the Montrose School, earning some revenge after losing to the team earlier in the season.

Previously, Montrose had been undefeated in the Independent Girls Conference (IGC), and this was the first time Brimmer has beat Montrose in over three years.

According to Co-Captain Marianne Alagos ‘21, the team fell behind in the first quarter to an 11-point deficit.

However, the Gators fought back in the second quarter and ended the half down by only six-points. For the start of the third quarter, the crowd had grown along the sidelines, as fans from both teams kept the atmosphere loud and intense.

In the second half, the Gators kept momentum and ended the third quarter with a one-point lead after Alagos hit a corner three.

The game continued to be really close, but the Gators pulled away at the end by four.

According to Alagos, Montrose is the team’s biggest rival.

“This was clearly a huge win for the team and the school as a whole,” Alagos said.
